New Purple Manager Role: Hub Editor

What is it about? πŸ‘€

We are introducing a new user role: Hub Editor. This role is designed for team members who mainly work in the Purple Hub and do not need editing permissions in Purple Manager. In the past, users of the Purple Hub could only be created as App Admins in the Purple Manager, even if they did not need to have this role. This role is ideal for users who focus on creating and managing content in Purple Hub, without needing broader permissions in Purple Manager to customise the app's settings.

How to use it

  • The Hub Editor role is set up in Purple Manager and provides automatic login access to the corresponding Purple Hub as a Purple Editor.
  • In Purple Manager, Hub Editors can view apps and publications assigned to their team but cannot make changes.
  • In Purple Hub, they have full editing capabilities as they got assigned the role of "Purple Editors". This role can be changed at any time in Purple Hub, e.g. to promote them to the "Managing Editor" role

Benefits πŸ€“

  • Role clarity: Provides access tailored to Hub-focused users without unnecessary permissions.
  • Simple permissions: It matches the Member role in Purple Manager for viewing content while enabling full editing rights in the Purple Hub.
  • Consistency: Ensures the appropriate access is granted for the right tasks.

Purple SSO

What is it about? πŸ‘€

Purple SSO allows users to access the Purple Platform without remembering separate login data. Your team can now enjoy a simplified and unified experience across the Purple platform by using their existing corporate credentials. Purple SSO (Single Sign-On) integrated with Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory) is now available and enables seamless authentication with your corporate identity provider.

How to use it

Benefits πŸ€“

Managing multiple usernames and passwords can be cumbersome and introduces security risks. Purple SSO simplifies the login process by allowing users to access the platform using their familiar company credentials. This centralized authentication method improves security by giving your organization full control over login policies while reducing the risk of password fatigue. Moreover, with Microsoft Entra ID integration, onboarding and offboarding users is effortless, as access can be managed directly through your existing identity management tools.

Key facts πŸ”‘

  • SSO Compatibility: Supports Microsoft Entra ID and other systems with OpenID configuration. Your corporate SSO defines session duration for better security.
  • Session Management: Your corporate SSO determines session duration, ensuring better security.
  • Setup: The setup process is quick and easy, with support from our team to help you enable SSO and test it in a sandbox environment before full deployment. If you want to have SSO enabled, open a support ticket. Learn more about the setup in the Purple docs.

Multi-factor authentication

What is it about? πŸ‘€

To increase the security of your access to the Purple platform, we have developed a Multi-factor authentication (MFA) mechanism. By enabling this feature, you must confirm your identity using a second device (like your smartphone) when logging in to the Purple platform to prevent misuse of your credentials. In addition, if you want to make MFA mandatory for your entire team, Purple Manager provides an option to enforce Multi-factor authentication for all team members.

Your benefits πŸ€“

Multi-factor authentication significantly reduces the risk of unauthorised access, even if your password is compromised. It provides an extra layer of security to ensure that only authorised users can access and make changes to your Purple platform. This additional barrier is precious in protecting against potential breaches. Enforcing MFA across your team is a convenient way to ensure all internal users adhere to your security standards.
